The Disability Snooker competition at the 2026 World Abilitysport Guttmann Games got underway on 17 August, with Hong Kong, China athlete LAM Kai Ming making a winning start. Competing in Group 3, Group B, LAM defeated American player Irving Gamez 2-0 in his opening match to secure an encouraging first victory.
In the Group 1+2 competition, KWOK Ka Fai Simon suffered a 0-2 defeat to Finland's Jouni Tähti in his opening Group A match. He bounced back in his second fixture, defeating fellow Hong Kong, China athlete NG Cheuk Bong 2-0 to record one win and one loss after two matches.
Meanwhile, another Hong Kong, China representative, Ma Wah Keung, faced a difficult start in Group A. He was defeated 0-2 by England's Tony Southern in his first match and subsequently lost 0-2 to Finland's Jouni Tähti, leaving him with two losses from his opening two contests.
The Opening Ceremony of the 2026 World Abilitysport Guttmann Games was held in the evening, officially marking the commencement of the Games.
