The 2026 World Abilitysport Gutmann Games will officially commence on August 17, with the Hong Kong, China delegation making its first appearance in the Disability Snooker competition. Four Hong Kong athletes will compete across different events as they look to make a strong start on the opening day of competition.
The Disability Snooker is divided into four events based on athletes' impairment classifications: Group 1+2, Group 3, Group 4, and Group 5. Hong Kong, China will have athletes in the Group 1+2 and Group 3 events.
In both the Group 1+2 and Group 3 competitions, athletes are drawn into Group A and Group B and will compete in a round-robin format. The top two players from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
Hong Kong, China will have three athletes competing in Group A of the Group 1+2 event, namely KWOK Ka Fai Simon, MA Wah Keung, and Ng Cheuk Pon. The opening round of matches will begin at 10:00 a.m. local time, with KWOK taking on Finland's Jouni Tähti, while MA faces Tony Southern of England.
At 2:00 p.m. local time, MA will return to action against Finland's Jouni Tähti. Meanwhile, KWOK and NG will meet in an all-Hong Kong encounter as the two teammates face each other for valuable group-stage points.
In the Group 3 competition, Hong Kong, China representative LAM Kai Ming will compete in Group B. He is scheduled to play his opening group match at 2:00 p.m. local time against Irving Gamez of the United States.
The Opening Ceremony of the 2026 World Abilitysport Gutmann Games will take place in the evening.
